REGISTERS AND DUCTS Free DIY Home Inspection Checklist

Use the free DIY home inspection checklist to inspect the duct system within the home. The duct system is what delivers the conditioned air to the various rooms within the home. Registers are located in each room (typically) and are installed either in the ceiling or on the wall. The conditioned air exits through these vents or registers. 

Ducts are manufactured in multiple different materials from metal, to plastic to Asbestos. Air leaking from these connections of the ducts can result in energy loss and should be corrected. Asbestos ducts are typical in homes built pre 1980’s and are classified as a hazardous material. We suggest if you plan on inspecting your own home, that you become familiar with the various types of ducts. in the even you are unable to determine the type of ducts present, we suggest employing the services of a professional contractor or home inspector.
